Formerly known as the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, this cultural center has served the city of Albuquerque since 1967. This museum dedicates to preserving the history of Albuquerque and Middle Rio Grande and the American Southwest art. The Albuquerque museum contributes significantly to the educational and cultural programs in the city and features globally influenced art, permanent installations, and special exhibitions.
The Albuquerque Museum’s permanent exhibits are dedicated to New Mexico art, early maps, weavings, conquistador armor, and other New Mexico colonial life artifacts. The museum’s collection includes over 10,000 artworks, 130,000 photographs, and 35,000 historical objects. The Albuquerque Museum also hosts changing exhibits and art galleries and maintains an outdoor sculpture garden.
